Shipping Rates & Policies
Depending on what you are ordering from duckscottage.com you will have several shipping options:
If you select ‘in-store pick-up’ there will not be added shipping. You will be asked to select which store you plan to pick up from – Duck’s Cottage or Downtown Books. Please keep in mind that we do appreciate you placing your order a few days prior to your planned pick-up date to ensure that we have your items on hand when you come for them. Please note in the comments section when you would like to pick-up.
For COFFEE orders we have special coffee only shipping rates using USPS Priority Mail. Orders of 1 to 2 bags will be charged $8.15. Orders of 3 to 6 bags of coffee will be charged $9.00. If you would like to order more than 6 bags of coffee, please call us at 252-261-5510.
For BOOK orders there are two options. You can choose to use USPS Media Mail, which is an uninsured and untraceable method of delivery. Media mail shipping costs $3.65 for the first book and .99 for every additional book. While most media mail packages arrive in a timely manner, it is still wise to have expectations of 7 to 10 days for delivery. You can also choose to use USPS Priority Mail for book orders. This will add an additional $12.00 to your order BUT in most instances, actual shipping is much less and we will adjust your charge to reflect actual shipping at the time that we complete your order. Priority orders are insured, trackable and should arrive in a week or less.
MIXED orders- in other words any order that contains coffee and books, or books and other merchandise, or coffee and swag, will also be sent using USPS Priority Mail and will be charged $12.00 shipping unless actual total is less.
We make every attempt to process orders within 48 hours however weekends, holidays and increased in-store traffic during the summer months may impede that goal. We do promise to get your package out in as timely manner as possible and most priority packages arrive within a week of being posted here on the Outer Banks, USPS delays notwithstanding.
If you feel you have waited more than ten days for your order, please touch base with us at 252-261-5510 and, depending on the method used for shipping, we will track your package in order to determine its last known location. If your Priority package arrives damaged, it is imperative that you call us immediately at 252-261-5510 before discarding the items or the packaging it arrived it. The USPS is very picky when it comes to reimbursement and will sometimes ask for photographic evidence of damage.
