First Friday: Kevin Duffus
First Fridays are back and we are ready to kick off our 2019 author signings! We are pleased to welcome noted North Carolina historian, filmmaker and author Kevin Duffus on Friday, April 5. Kevin has authored a number of popular titles including The Last Days of Blackbeard, War Zone: WW2 Off the NC Coast, The Lost Light and Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks. Kevin has also produced several documentaries and discovered the Fresnel lens from the original Cape Hatteras Lighthouse which had been missing for 140 years. Kevin will be signing books and getting ready for his lecture on Saturday at the Arts Council on the historic Mirlo rescue. Also joining us for the evening will be our good friends from Outer Banks Distilling with their rum tasting table!
First Friday kicks off a great weekend in Manteo! On Saturday at 10am, Outer Banks Distilling will be releasing one of their highly sought after aged rums - this one in their Shipwreck Series. Kevin Duffus will be presenting a lecture at the Dare County Arts Council at 1pm on the historic Mirlo rescue; and at 4pm head over to the White Doe Inn for their Dare2Care benefit featuring Mel Melton & The Wicked Mojos (tickets $30).
First Friday is a free, fun, family friendly event that takes place throughout Downtown Manteo featuring live music, restaurant specials, wine tastings, book signings, art show openings, trunk shows and more. It's a great way to kick off the weekend, a good place to meet up with friends and a fun evening for Outer Banks visitors and locals.
